Boglietti Barolo Library Release

Brothers Enzo and Gianni Bogliette established their winery in 1991 after growing up farming their father’s original vineyard in La Morra.  In short time the family’s holdings have grown to include just over 50 acres of combined single vineyard sites, most of which lie on Piedmont’s famed “golden slope,” and some of which boast 100‐year‐old‐plus vines.  Here is a chance to stock up on some of their select past vintages.  Skip to the end of this email for pricing and details.  Reviews and scores are all from the Wine Advocate.

2005 Enzo Boglietti Barolo Fossati  92pts
The 2005 Barolo Fossati opens with floral aromatics that lead to menthol, spices, flowers and raspberries. Texturally, the wine combines elements of creaminess and energy, with outstanding density. The tannins need some time to settle down, but this powerful, long Barolo is a commendable effort from Boglietti. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2025.

2006 Enzo Boglietti Barolo Fossati  93pts
The 2006 Barolo Fossati presents a gorgeous, floral bouquet that resonates on the palate where red La Morra fruit blossoms with gorgeous purity. This is a deceptively mid-weight offering, yet the Fossati possesses plenty of concentration, superb clarity and tons of texture. It is a wonderful effort from Enzo Boglietti. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026.

2007 Enzo Boglietti Barolo Fossati — 94pts
Enzo Boglietti’s 2007 Barolo Fossati is a beautifully radiant, generous wine in this vintage. Sweet roses, tar, licorice and succulent red cherries come together beautifully in the Fossati. This is yet another Barolo from a site that is less-favored in most vintages, but that totally outperforms in 2007. The round, harmonious finish leaves a lasting impression. The Fossati is a gorgeous Barolo, and one of the finest wines I have ever tasted at this address. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2027

2007 Enzo Boglietti Barolo Brunate — 92pts
The 2007 Barolo Brunate strikes a nice middle ground between the Fossati and the Case Nere in its dark red fruit, menthol, licorice and elegant, well-integrated oak. This shows lovely delineation and nuance, along with high-toned balsamic notes that add freshness to the finish. The Brunate is a sensual, somewhat mysterious Barolo that gives up its charms with far more reluctance than the other wines in this lineup. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024.

2005 Enzo Boglietti Barolo Riserva  93pts
The 2005 Barolo Riserva is a deep, plush wine layered with black fruit, smoke, leather licorice and French oak. It shows good depth and polish in a medium-bodied style with plenty of depth for the year. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018
