2018 Saint-Galet, Châteaunneuf-du-Pape $30
Grenache Syrah
Out of the surplus of wine due to the shutdown in France and the American Tarrifs, comes the Negociant blended CNDP put together for a local importer by Eric Bonnet of Domaine La Bastide Saint Dominique. Rich and earthy at a great price.
2018 Domaine Duseigneur, Matteo Châteauneuf-du-Pape $38
80% Grenache, 20% Syrah
This CNDP boasts black fruits and lots of body that benefits from a decanting, the aromas of red fruits, leather and underbrush will continue to develop. Organic, biodynamic
2018 Raymond Usseglio, Cuvée Girard Châteaunuef du Pape $45
90% Grenache, 4% Mourvèdre, 4% Syrah, 2% Cinsault, 2% Counoise
Deep ruby/purple, with a meaty, powerful bouquet of black raspberries, ground pepper, cured meats, and flowery garrigue, this beauty is medium to full-bodied and has a wonderful, supple mouthfeel, silky tannins and a great finish. I actually like it a little more than the base cuvée, but it should age similarly, with a solid 10-12 years or more of prime drinking.
2017 Clos des Brusquiéres, Châteauneuf-du-Pape $45
60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre
70+ year old vines An assertively perfumed bouquet evokes red berry preserves, exotic spices and candied lavender, along with a chalky mineral quality that builds as the wine opens up. Sweet, seamless and energetic in style, offering lithe raspberry, cherry and spicecake flavors that show wonderful clarity and back-end cut. The mineral and floral components drive a very long, appealingly sweet finish shaped by smooth, harmonious tannins.
